Technology in the Classroom

For our most recent meeting, Diane Richmond and Susan Thomas presented on how to use technology in the classroom.  Now more than ever, technology is becoming an integral part of the classroom and it is important to know how to use it to maximize learning.  They stressed learning about the technology that you have available to you.  If you have a SMART Board, spend time before or after school to familiarize yourself with how to work it.  For many technologies, there are people that can come to your school to teach you and your colleagues how to use it effectively.

Some of their favorite resources and tools include:

http://www.more.net/ For professional development workshops.
http://zoom.us/ It’s like Skype but can be used for webinars.
https://delicious.com/ A way to organize your links.
http://www.studyblue.com/ Great for flashcards. There’s an app too.

http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/ You can make instructional videos with this.

If you would like anymore information about technology, you can find Diane and Susan at Pickler 205.
